NEET 2018 CutOff Marks – Check Category wise, Institute wise Cutoff List: The 12th-grade exam is one of the important exams in student’s career as it is key in deciding the exact field the candidate chooses. Many wish to do engineering or Architecture. For them JEE Main exam is important and we have already shared all the details regarding JEE Main 2018. Similarly, students who dream of being a doctor need to appear for NEET 2018. NEET stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. The exam is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). NEET exam replaced the previous exam which was recognized as All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT). The 2017 NEET exam was conducted on 7th May while results were announced on 23rd May 2017. After Supreme Court’s orders, it was decided that there will be one exam all over India for dental and medical admissions.

NEET 2018 Qualifying Percentile

In order to be eligible for getting admission in dental and medical, the student has to secure minimum marks in the exam. As per the official instructions, unreserved category needs to secure at least 50 percentile marks while SC/ST/Backward class should get 40 percentile at least. 45 percentile is mandatory for Physically handicapped people. JEE Main 2018 Eligibility Criteria (Qualification, Age Limit, Maximum Attempts)

There are various factors which student is required to fulfill in order to qualify for the JEE Main Exam. This includes Age Criteria, Qualification and maximum attempts per candidate. So if the candidate fails to fulfill the criteria, he/she cannot appear for JEE Mains. Here we are sharing the eligibility criteria for JEE Main:

Age Criteria:

  • Candidates born on or after 1st October 1993 are eligible to appear for JEE Main examination.
  • For reserved category (SC/ST & PWD) relaxation period of 5 years is provided.
  • This means the candidate who falls in the above-mentioned category should be born on or after 1st October 1988.
  •  Date of Birth mentioned on the 12th-grade certificate will be considered.

Qualification Criteria:

  • It is mandatory for the candidate must pass the 12th examination with 5 subjects in order to be eligible for JEE Main 2018.
  • The qualifying examination must include Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects.
  • There is no qualifying marks criteria to appear for JEE Main. The minimum marks the candidate needs are the passing marks.
  • The candidates who have appeared & passed HSC exam in 2016 and 2017 are also eligible for JEE main. The candidates who will appear for 2018 HSC Exam can also appear for JEE Main 2018.
  • Diploma students can also apply for JEE Main 2018. But these students are eligible for IIT admissions only. In short, Diploma holders cannot apply for engineering with JEE Main score but need to appear for JEE Advance exam.

Maximum Number of Attempts

For various exams, the board has set a limit for a maximum number of attempts. For JEE Main, the candidate has total 3 attempts for clearing the exam. The attempts will be counted from 2017 onwards. JEE advance can be attempted twice in 2 consecutive years.

Eligibility For Admission in IITs, NITs, CFTIs:

For the candidate to be eligible for NITs, IITs & CGTIs, the candidate should secure 75% marks in the 12th examination or must be in the top 20 percentile of their respective board. The qualifying marks for reserved category is 65%.

GATE 2018 Age Limit:

  • One of the highlighting points of this exam is that there is no age limit barrier to appear for the exam. A candidate with a graduate degree irrespective of his/her age can appear for GATE 2018.

GATE 2018 Maximum Attempts:

  • Well, many have this question of how many times can I apply/appear for GATE exam? The answer to this question is also easy. There are no limits for maximum attempts. A candidate can appear for as many times as he/she wishes for.

GATE 2018 Qualifying Degree Criteria

  • The candidate must have a Bachelor Degree. This includes B.Tech/B.E./B.Pharm/B.Arch from any recognized University.
  • Either BSc. or Bachelor Degree in Science Research from recognized University.
  • The applicants having Master’s Degree in from any stream Mathematics/ Science/ computer or equivalent or Statistics or Five years B.S. / M.S. Progam or M.Tech or M.E. after BSc. Can also apply.
  • The applicants appearing in the final year of qualifying exam (Bachelor Degree) can also apply for exam. The candidate needs to provide the certificate from the Principal of University or College.
  • The candidates, who have passed the qualifying examination ie. completed the Bachelor Degree, need to submit their certificate or degree certificate or provisional certificate.
  • Sadly, candidates who are Diploma Holders are not eligible for the examination.

GATE 2018 Exam Pattern

As we mentioned earlier, GATE is an online exam which grants the candidate a permission to apply for M.Tech/PhD programs in IITs, IISc and various other institutions in India as well as in some other countries. We have shared the syllabus above for all the 23 papers. Out of them, the candidate is eligible to appear for any one paper. Here we are sharing the paper pattern for GATE 2018.

  • The exam is conducted online only.
  • Total 65 questions of 100 marks are what candidate must attempt in 3 hrs.
  • The questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) & Numerical Answer Type Questions (NAT).
  • For MCQs, four choices will be available for the candidate whereas, for NAT type questions, the candidate must enter the real number as the answer with help of virtual keyboard.
  • GA section is common in all papers. It will contain 150 questions of maximum 15 marks.
  • The exam has a negative marking of 1/3 marks for questions carrying 1 mark.

Here is the Exam Pattern For All Papers Except GG, XE, XL:

  • The paper will consist of 30 questions of 2 marks each.
  • The candidate will also face 25 questions of 1 mark each.
  • 10 questions from GA is something which is common in each paper.

Exam Pattern For Paper XL:

  • Section P of Chemistry which is a compulsory section will contain total 15 questions. The 15 questions are distributed as 5 questions of 1 marks and 10 questions of 2 marks.
  • The common part of every paper – 10 questions from GA.
  • Any two of XL sections Q to U – Total 20 questions will be maximum a student will have to attempt in this section. The paper will have 10 questions of 1 mark each and 10 questions of 2 marks.

Exam Pattern For Paper XE:

  • Section A of Engineering Mathematics. This is a Compulsory Section. Total 11 questions will be asked. 7 questions of 1 mark each while 4 questions of 2 marks each. It is common to all candidates.
  • 10 questions from GA.
  • Any two of XE sections from B to H. Total 22 questions will be asked in this section. 9 questions of 1 mark and 13 questions carrying 2 marks.

Here is Exam Pattern For Paper GG:

  • Part A of this section will contain 25 questions of 1 mark each. This part is common for all candidates.
  • 10 questions from GA.
  • Part B also contains 30 questions of 2 marks each. This part has two sections, section-2 is of Geophysics and section-1 is of Geology.

  • The minimum age requirement for a candidate is 17 years as on or before 31st December of the year of admission.
  • The maximum age limit for appearing for NEET 2018 is 25 years.
  • For reserved category candidates, 30 years is the maximum age limit.


  • Candidate must have qualified 12th grade or equivalent exam.
  • The candidate appearing for NEET must have appeared for PCB (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) with English as the compulsory subject.

What is JEE Main?

For most of the students, the education motto is to be an engineer. Well, if you have seriously decided to become an engineer, Joint Entrance Examination is something which you need to attempt. JEE exam offers students admission to various engineering colleges in India. The exam is conducted in two steps – JEE Main & JEE Advance. JEE Main 2018 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidate must have passed the 12th or equivalent exam in 2016 or 2017 with five subjects from any recognized educational boards of India.
  • Even students appearing for 12th Exam are eligible to fill up the application form and appear for JEE Main exam.
  • Students who appear for JEE Main must have Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) group as his/her core subjects in 11th & 12th Exam.
  • There are no minimum marks required for qualifying for JEE Main exam. But for admission in IITs, NITs student must secure 75% marks or be in top 20 percentile.

Age Limit:

  • Candidate born on or after 1st October 1993 can apply for JEE Main.
  • Only three attempts are allowed for any candidate.

  • The candidate must be a bachelor’s degree holder in Technology, Architecture or Engineering or must be in the final year of these mentioned courses. The student needs to fulfil educational qualifications such as 4 years after 10+2 or should be Post B.Sc or Post Diploma.
  • Even students pursuing the final year of Masters degree in Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications or Masters degree holders can apply for GATE 2018.
